Paro festival is one of the most popular festivals in the country and amongst the tourist.

During Tshechu the dances are performed by monks as well as by laymen. The Tshechu is a religious festival and by attending it, it is believed one gains merits. It is also a yearly social gathering where the people come together to rejoice dressed in all their finery.

Paro Festival Dates:March 26-30 , 2010


Day 01 : Arrive Paro

You will be received by a representative from Bhutan All Seasons Tours ( Bhutan Tour Operator /Bhutan travel agent) at the Paro International Airport and transfer to hotel for overnight halt. Evening free time at leisure

Day 02: Paro Short Hike

Depart at 08.30 am for  a hike to Taktsang Monastery (Tiger's Nest, about 4-5hrs walk up and down). Lunch at Taktsang cafeteria.

Overnight halt in the hotel

Day 03: Paro  Sightseeing

Paro sightseeing includes visit to;Drukgyel Dzong (ruined fortress),Kyichu Lhakhang, Buddhist monastery built in 7th century ,National Musuem (Ta Dzong) ,Paro Dzong (fortress).Overnight halt in the hotel.

Day 04: Paro Tsechu

Attend first day of Paro Festival. Venue-Paro Dzong Courtyard. This is the perfect occasions to witness the Bhutanese unique culture, religion and history. Overnight halt in the hotel.

Day 05:  Paro - Thimphu

Attend second day Paro Festival. Venue-Festival Ground near Paro Dzong. Evening drive to Thimphu (about 1 hr 30 m drive). On arrival, transfer to hotel for overnight halt.

Day 06 : Thimphu Sightseeing

Thimphu sightseeing includes visit to;

National Memorial Chorten (stupa),Changangkha Lhakhang ( Buddhist monastery) ,Sangaygang to catch a spectacular glimpse of whole Thimphu valley,Takin Reserve to see Bhutan’s national animal Takin,National Library ,Institute of Traditional Arts ,Folk Heritage Museum,National Institute of Traditional Medicine,Textile Museum ,Handicrafts Emporium.Overnight halt in the hotel.

Day 07 : Thimphu – Punakha/Wangdue

After breakfast, drive to Punakha and Wangdue (about 2 hrs drive). Enroute, halt at Dochula pass (10500 feet) to see the spectacular view of snow capped eastern Himalayan Mountains. Visit 108 Chorten, Punakha Dzong, Khamsum Yuela Chorten (stupa).Overnight halt in the hotel.

Day 08 : Punakha/Wangdue - Paro

After breakfast, visit Chimi Lhakhang (about 20 minutes leisure walk across the rice fields from the road).Visit Wangdue dzong.After lunch, drive Paro (about 3hrs 20 m drive). Overnight stay in the hotel.

Day 09 : Depart Paro

In the morning, your Bhutan tour guide from Bhutan All Seasons Tours will see you off at the Paro International Airport for your onward destinations.
